Day 3

Exeter to Portishead - 89 miles
Wonderful weather yet again, despite the forecasts for rainstorms. Today was far less hilly (thank goodness) but further than many of the team had actually ever ridden before. We were very happy to follow the path of the Bridgewater canal for a good 15 miles - very flat, very pretty and entirely traffic free. We've settled on the ultimate schedule for cycling, resting evey 30 miles and eating bucket loads of food at every opportunity. Quote of the day (not to be published) comes from Mandy who took a very dim view of Lorraine taking us on an impromptu tour of Clevdon waterfront after 80 miles. All was forgiven after we stopped off to visit Trudy and were treated to a slap up tea. Very happy bikers. We were well attended today by the two support cars - Margaret and the dogs in one and the Lettington crew in the second. New visitors tonight as Jenny and Katie rolled into town. Great to see them both.
And one final note for today's blog - many thanks to Mark for his caring gift of chafe-ease cream.

Hope the chaff isn't too bad! Vaseline was my godsend when I was pounding the streets on my marathon trails!! Frankie is going to be helping me bake tomoz and he plans to welcome you to Chester on Sunday with a chocolate orange cake! A bit apprehensive as not made one in my new oven. He's also looking forward to meeting his very own 'call the midwife Jenny'. Have a good day girls and see you Sunday. Xxxx much love from joey,, Jacs & Frankie
